One Medical Seniors Spotlight: Meet Emily Marsh, MD
Our care at One Medical Seniors is built on relationships. We take the time to get to know our patients well, and we want our patients to get to know their providers too. When you know your provider’s philosophy of care, your values can align on important health decisions.
Meet Emily Marsh, MD, a primary care provider at One Medical Seniors in Colorado. Emily was a Hospitalist for 16 years, but her real passion is primary care that focuses on patient relationships. A hospitalist is a physician who treats and cares for patients in the hospital, while a primary care physician focuses on preventative care and treats patients outside of a hospital.
We interviewed Emily to learn more about about what brought her to One Medical Seniors, her philosophy of care and her health tips for seniors.
What brought you to One Medical Seniors?
“I was ready to make a change from hospital medicine and wanted to work in a place that offered patients better care. One Medical Seniors patients have better outcomes and more personalized and humane care. I believe that our focus in medicine should be on helping the patient achieve their best health, not on the business of health care. One Medical Seniors is that place for me!”
What is your previous experience?
“I worked in primary care for five years in Virginia and Colorado, then became a Hospitalist after my second child was born. I worked as a Hospitalist for 16 years. I received my BA from Stanford University, my MD from Baylor College of Medicine and completed my Internal Medicine residency at the University of Virginia Health Sciences Center. My first love is primary care.”
What is your philosophy of care?
“I believe that optimum health is obtained by working together with the patient and with the health care team. Education is key as well.”
How do you define health?
“Being able to live life to the fullest.”
What do you do for fun?
“I love being active and am grateful for the ability to do so. I enjoy skiing, running, hiking and being outdoors. I love Colorado adventures with my husband, three children and dog!”
Emily is one part of the One Medical Seniors team. She works with a Health Coach, Nurse, Behavioral Health Specialist and Operations Assistant to empower her patients to live happier and healthier lives. Each role supports our patients and works together to provide the best possible care.
