1. How does registration work?

   If you’re a One Medical member, register your kids within your One Medical account.

   Not a One Medical member yourself? First sign yourself up for free using your employer discount code. Once you’re registered, you can log in to your account to register your kids.

   When registering your child, you’ll be asked to provide some basic information, including preferred contact information, email address, and an account password. Your accounts will be linked in the system which will help you manage your family’s accounts in the future.

   And if you don’t want to be a One Medical member yourself, you can still only register your child. Visit onemedical.com/myhealth, enter your work email address and employer discount code, and choose “Child membership” when asked to indicate who needs a membership.

2. Can I register my baby for pediatric care with One Medical before they’re born?

   Yes, go ahead and sign them up. We'll collect whatever information you have, but don't worry if your baby doesn't have a name yet — we'll update the chart with any new information after they’re born.

   Within a day after your baby is born, give us a call to book their first appointment. The first well visit with your baby’s provider is typically scheduled for three days after your baby leaves the hospital. Remember to budget extra time to get out of the house with a newborn, and please bring any records and hospital discharge information.

3. Do you ever host meet & greets to meet your pediatric providers?

   All family practice cities offer complimentary meet & greets so families can interview a provider to see if they're the right fit for them.

   To set-up an appointment in your city find the instructions below:

   All family practice markets other than New York or Chicago: Send an email to OMKids@onemedical.com with the subject line “Pediatric Meet & Greet” and include what city you live in or your preferred family office. We’ll set up time with a pediatric provider near you — at no cost.

   If you live in the NYC area: Send an email to OMkidsNY@onemedical.com with the subject line “Pediatric Meet & Greet” and include your preferred family office location (if you have one) to set up time with a pediatric provider near you — at no cost.

   If you live in Chicago: Current members (adults and kids) can book a meet and greet with Dr. Min Jie Lee directly in the app. If you're not a member yet, you can send an email to OMKids@onemedical.com with the subject line "Pediatric Meet & Greet at Lincoln Park." We’ll set up time with a pediatric provider near you — at no cost.

   How to book your complimentary meet & greet video appointment for current members in Chicago:

   1. In the One Medical app or website, select “Book a Visit” or “Get Care.” Make sure your city is set to Chicago.
   2. Enter “meet and greet” as the reason for your visit.
   3. Select “Any Available Appointment.” In the app, you’ll need to select “Book Visit” on the screen after that.
   4. Select “Meet & Greet with a Pediatrics Provider” for appointment type.
   5. Pick a time that works with your schedule.

4. What should I expect from a pediatric visit?

   We’ve built a positive and collaborative wellness home for you and your family. When you walk into our office, you’ll be greeted by one of our friendly team members, who can help you coordinate your family’s healthcare, including your in-office visits, camp or school physicals, and specialist referrals. You’ll spend your entire visit with a board-certified pediatrician or a family provider who can care for your entire family.

   Our providers are eager to build strong and lasting relationships with their patients. They want you to feel comfortable sharing your parenting experiences during visits, emailing them questions, and calling our practice for questions about something as sudden as a fever or as routine as a well check.

5. What additional support do you have for new parents?

   In addition to traditional pediatric care and our 24/7 support team, we also offer breastfeeding and lactation support to make life simpler for busy, tired parents. Our on-staff lactation consultants are available for 60-minute lactation consulting sessions to help our members with a range of feeding solutions, including breastfeeding, breast pumping, bottle feeding, and weaning. Families love their personalized approach, and the appointments are typically billed through insurance.

   One Medical Kids is now offering Newborn Care Classes (virtually). Get more details and sign up here.

   Please join a few of our amazing One Medical pediatricians for an introductory course covering the most important "how to's" when it comes to newborn care. From prepping your home with essential care items to caring for the umbilical cord to keeping your baby safe in a pandemic, Hela Barhoush, MD, Dibya Subedi, MD, and Christina Gallus, MD will review a range of important topics regarding newborn care. There will be time for Q&As, so please come with questions!

   This course is best for expecting and new parents. A One Medical membership is not required.

6. Should I see the same provider as my child?

   A pediatrician only sees patients up to age 18, while a family medicine provider can see everyone in the family. Choosing one provider for the whole family offers greater convenience and a more holistic healthcare experience. Your provider will have an understanding of your family’s health history and values to better treat you and your kids. That said, it’s not necessary and you’re always able to visit with any of our providers in any of our family practice offices, since all of our providers have access to your One Medical health record.

7. I'm concerned about COVID-19 and my kids, what additional testing or resources do you have?

   Keeping your kids healthy is a regular daily challenge. Add to that a global pandemic though, and your stress levels are sure to skyrocket. As local and state health authorities continue to issue new guidance about COVID-19 each day, you may be more worried about your child’s health than usual. One Medical is here to help your family through this unprecedented time.

   Is One Medical testing kids?

   We are testing kids 14 and younger at all offices in locations where we offer pediatric services, including the San Francisco Bay Area, New York, Phoenix, Chicago, Los Angeles, Orange County, and Portland, by appointment. Children over the age of 14 can be tested at any One Medical location in all markets with an appointment.
   

   If you have questions about your child’s symptoms, or your child needs to be examined, it is best to book a “sick visit” with one of our Family Practice providers. COVID-19 testing appointments are for testing only, while “sick visits” allow for time with a provider to ask questions and examine your child. Of course, you can always reach out to our virtual medical team with more urgent concerns. Please note that if multiple kids are being tested, each family member needs their own appointment, which can be booked on the One Medical app.

9. What is One Medical’s stance on vaccines?

   We strongly support and follow the routine childhood vaccination schedule put forth by the Center for Disease Control (CDC), American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP), and American Academy of Family Physicians (AAFP). It is our professional opinion that immunizing your child fully and on schedule is important in keeping your child healthy and preventing devastating diseases. We welcome questions about immunization to help parents navigate any confusion around vaccines.
