Lisa Bernard, MD
Palo Alto
Doctor of Medicine, a common medical school degree for physicians. MDs at One Medical typically specialize in family medicine, internal medicine, geriatrics or pediatrics.
Medicine is an art, not a science, and it is important to work with families and address their concerns. I engage with parents to help them keep their children healthy and well. The importance of good nutrition, exercise and a stimulating environment cannot be over emphasized. I take a holistic approach to medicine, avoiding antibiotics unless absolutely necessary and letting kids recover from viral infections naturally. I focus on making the child and his or her parents comfortable during what can be a stressful situation; it is not uncommon for kids and parents to tell me “this was the most fun doctor visit” they’ve had.
How I stay healthy and happy
To keep fit and happy, I hike, bike, and go for long walks with friends. I also enjoy farmers' markets, word games and jigsaw puzzles, reading and traveling.
